As I write we are just finishing up our thanksgiving meal at the SIM spiritual life conference. The "thanksgiving committee" here with SIM planned a traditional family meal of mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and thanksgiving chicken. It was a beautiful experience dining together with people from many different countries and speaking various languages yet all with a heart for God and His mission. A glimpse of the kingdom.
Today we drove from Ouaga to Fada for the beginning of the conference. Missionaries are here from all over Burkina in addition to a few other ex-pats, locals, and our team. Ian delivered a message in French while our team split into 2 groups: some helped with cleanup and set up and the rest of us facilitated a program for the kids. The MKs (missionary kids) were very inspirational as they shared what they are thankful for on this day: baptism, health, their parents, and God's gift to us, were some of their answers.
Tomorrow is another full day of the conference here and activities! Most of the families are staying here in the compound and our team is staying down the road at a "hotel".
Below are pictures from our meal, Justin cooking in the kitchen, our fearless leader Sam, and the kids sharing what they learned about the first Amercian Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving!! I've been trying to post to you unsuccessfully so far. Hopefully this will go through. We are praying for all of you. Cody is exhausted and having a wonderful time! He is also being very good about where he goes to the bathroom! :)
ReplyDeleteGod bless you all!
Much love,
Mom/Carole
I'm hoping this works. If so, tell Sam "hi" from the farm.
